Someone has to be the ginny pig... lol. Figure Roehl gets some type of flex from the government somehow. Not like they use the complete system anyhow. Who knows where the issues are?

Business in general is not hiring because of increases government regulation. The trucking industry seems to be the exact opposite. They have to hire more drivers to deal with the new regulations... What was really wrong with paper logbooks? Yeah some people will cheat. The people that were cheating are still doing it, because they are not at the big companies that are using the e-logs, and Qualcomm like systems. I have friends that own trucks, and they still run by the seat of their pants. All we are doing with e-logs are keeping honest people honest. Other than that they are stupid. As far as the ruling on EOBR's the court said that they can and are used to harrass drivers. I'm sorry but if that is the reason the companies have started using them, I guess I would not want to work for them. Most companies have had this information for years with the Qualcomm. I just do not understand...

It would seem that it is more about the illusion of "control"? Control over those who control themselves accordingly.

Oh, you mean like me!!! Only about three more weeks. My wife is so sad...:biggrin_25513: She has had me home now for several months, and she doesn't want me to go back. If there were such a thing as a good job around here, I wouldn't. There is just nothing here. I could go drive a water truck for the next six months, and then be out of work, but that is not really for me.

I'm gonna disagree, eLogs are actually a useful tool. It's helping us control the worst of the worst at our company. Is it harassment, probably. I like to think of it more as education. From what I'm finding most drivers don't understand the basics of the hours of service. So eLogs or paper logs they're messing them up. At least on eLogs I can provide timely feedback and attempt to correct the behaviors/misconceptions.

The E-logs are neat, and I can see there would be alot of benefits from the company point of view. Alot more data can be collected in real time, or almost real time, and used for planning and increased utilization. I get all that. Where this came off the rails, is that some companies think that they need to send messages to the driver everytime that they stop, to ask why, and while drivers are trying to take their 10hr break. As long as I pick up and deliever the load on time, with out going out of route, its no ones business what I do on the way. I figure that a camara on the driver will be the next thing that gets added...
