Don't count on it Eric!My Hubby is driving a truck with over 700k on it and they've been telling him since day 1 that it will be "sold" soon. What a bunch of BS! That thing is the biggest piece of ###### you've ever seen! Every time he goes out on the road, something new breaks on it. They've replaced such major parts that they could have easily put a nice down payment on a new one for the money they've spent, which makes a whole lot of sense for a truck they plan to get rid of, ha? On top of that, the last time he was out (for about 3weeks), he had no heat and he's back on the road again and they still haven't made plans to fix it, maybe because the darn thing has already been fixed once before and they've finally figured out it belongs in the junk yard?
One can only hope... LOL I'd think Roehl would be embarrassed to have it pull up to customers docs. What I'd like to know is what ever happened to them caring so much about their drivers safety? I'm scared to have my husband out there driving that thing, worrying about what could go out on it next?!?
Is Roehl ever going to get any new equipment?

I feel like the Belle of the Ball then....I was given a new Prostar when I started in January. I have seen about a dozen new trucks out on the roads. I as well have seen some pieces of crap too. The guys I went through orientation with all got older high mileage trucks.
-
Maybe before they spend anymore on new trucks they should think about upgrading their computer systems and some type of generator or battery backup system. Their entire computer system is still screwed up from the power outage last week. I had to call maintenance with an issue on my truck yesterday and the tech told me they are still playing catch-up. Then we have the payroll issue that happened today and they are having problems getting preplans out to the trucks. With this kind of reliance on computers it would make sense to plan for the worst possible disaster.
From what I've seen and heard, I don't want one of those Prostars. No apu, 58" instead of the 70" in the Freightliners or the 72" in the 9400's. Add to those issues the lack of storage and the only real benefit seems to be good fuel economy. The more I look at other trucks the more I like the Blue Lemon in spite of the MBE engine. -
My Prostar has lot's of storage. I'm impressed with the amount compared to the last Prostar I drove with MVT. Mine has the battery APU. So far no issues & works very good in winter.

I'm pulling a trailer with an ABS light on that they refuse to fix until I get through a terminal. My '07 has 705,000+ miles. And every time I call about an issue for maintenance they NEVER wanna pay to have it fixed. Its always wait to get to a terminal. It gets old quick.

Well in the last 3 Weeks alone, on my 05 9400...i've had to have a new compressor, new drive shaft, new clutch, and new egr valve, all to the tune of $7k, including the tow job when the compressor went.. Been hell of a ride.....and now its back to 200 mile runs all week getting old quick

I just hate dealing with the maintenance dept
My call to maintenance at beginning of LAST trip.
Me: I got a trailer that has an ABS light staying on. It came on going down the road and hasn't gone off.
Maintenance: try unplugging the power cable then plug it back in. Then drive up to highway speed
Me: done, didn't fix it. I'm headed to Dallas and there's a trailer dealer there.
Maintenance: alright, we'll get it in there and have it checked out.
Me: hey I'm in Dallas and empty now. When do you need me to go to the dealer.
Maintenance: if you get routed east see if you can get through the ellenwood terminal and we'll get it fixed there. Trailer is out of warranty.
Me: so drive a trailer loaded with ABS light on through 4 states....
Maintenance: if you get stopped by dot then its a violation against the company not the driver.
Good to know the maintenance dept doesn't care about roehls CSA score......Last edited: Feb 8, 2012

ummm...yeah I would call safety on your abs light...cause it affects your CSA score too...tell your fleet manager, tell safety, and keep telling maint.... I haven't had many issues thankfully that I couldn't fix myself..... and any issue that I couldn't I happened to be at a terminal...

Mic is right. The maint.guys don't drive so how are they gonna know who gets the csa points. Call safety and get the name of the guy that told you to drive it.
-
Dispatcher told me the same thing, it affects the company only, not you.
I tried getting routed through to Georgia but dispatcher said it was too far off route. I deliver in Hastings Florida this morning. I'm gonna call dispatch and tell them I need to go to the Jax yard and either drop this trailer and pick up another empty or need to find something else to do cuz ill tell them its a safety issue hauling 45k down the road and not having ABS.
