My guess would be that if he was fired it was for having his wife in the truck. If he had enough safety issues to get a camera then he would also have been prohibited from passengers until 6 months of safe driving had passed since
    the last safety incident.

If it is a "SMARTDRIVE" system it aWILL NOT record unless you brake hard, swerve hard or aceellerate fast etc. and it should have a manual button for you to use to turn it on yourself to record incidents beyond that like road rage etc.

Yeah there's some kind of remote thing attached to it. Roehl may have it setup a different way. But what i read from the website it seemed it would record all the time

I'm sure if you talk to the right person they will tell you exactly what it is doing and how to work it. I just left a company that has it in all of their trucks and it does exactly what I mentioned before. I didn't drive for them but was close to the maintenance garage manager for the fleet. (Local Food Distribution Company)

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you but even the site says it records. Just doesn't ship off the video (30 seconds I guess?) until a critical event. Because if you think about it, how can it display what actually happened when the event wasn't triggered until a few seconds after its already happened. It might keep a 5 minutes worth of video or 3 days, you never know.

I doubt it keeps anything over a hour. Because if 1hour of video = 1GB of storage space, you have 100+ trucks with the unit so 100GB+ a hour. Of course just a spit ball figure. But the longer the recording is in the buffer the more space the server uses and I'm assuming the higher the cost to the company using the camera.

As for sleeper, they have no right to see what I do in there. I am not on duty or driving so that time is my personal time. They want to fire me because they saw my twig and berries then they can try but any lawyer would push that as privacy invasion. Company equipment or not. Just because it's their truck doesn't provide the right to spy on us.

Oh and "DD", your living my nightmare. I went 6 months without windshield curtains because my 06 internationals were destroyed. Now that I have them, I'm in heaven! So much more space now

Well I'm in ellenwood, my truck (7615) is still not fixed. Now my loaner (5998) is in the shop. Speedo ain't working and my ac wasn't working. So they worked on it last night and couldn't figure it out. I was able to get another loaner truck this morning. A guy quit and is cleaning it out now. Its a blue freightshaker century, its an automatic.

I'm just glad I'm out of that camera truck haha. At least this one has an apu and a fridge. I'm just waiting till June :D

My move into a KW T660 has been approved. Just gotta work out the logistics to meet the other driver. He's moving to Arizona and leaving the company.

Yeah true haha. Ill get used to it. I still think dispatch thinks I took that load to SC. They just sent me a pre plan picking up 90 miles away. According to Google maps I'm 160 miles away. So yeah.
