Is Roehl more strict about accident history within 5 years than others?

My application just got rejected and they said I could apply again in August 2014 when one of my two accidents is out of the 5 year range.

Just wondering if the others that offer the CDL school have a higher tolerance level.

Just so you know, the old one was my fault, the second wasn't. I'm not a bad driver. I've driven 60,000 miles for my courier company and personal since the beginning of last year without incident.

Anywhoo, thanks for any and all advice.

This depends on the nature of the accident that "was your fault"... some types of accidents will not be acceptable on a driving record. Until they are gone, you will not be hired by a lot of the companies.

most of the accident regs are insurance set,if there is a company less strict about that would you really want to work for them?

Apply to all of them at the same time. Another I have heard of, but know nothing about is Raider Express in Ft. Worth, TX.

Check Goodwill Industries website; they have free CDL school in some areas.

If you can get your CDL without schooling, you might get on with Panther Expedite(cargo & box truck) which would get you started anyway. Also, Paschall Truck Lines might hire you, if you have a CDL.

There are several companies that will hire you right now, if you can get in a private or community college CDL school.

Sometimes the unemployment office or local department of labor can help you get started with a CDL school.

Apply with Covenant. They take anyone. I know of several drivers dismissed from my current company because of too many accidents that have since hired on with Covenant.

That explains why their drivers drive the way they do. They will hire any warm body for the seat. Looking at the CSA material they seem to have a speeding problem (6-10 mph over most common), failure to obey traffice control device and wearing seat belts.

Thanks all for your answers. I was extremely hesitant about posting this question. I'm not looking for easy and certainly not a company that's unscrupulous (I'd imagine those companies encourage their drivers to break the rules or perhaps don't discourage the rule breaking?). I understand full and well that many have driven thousands and thousands of miles "without incident" and that none of you want more irresponsible drivers on the road. Especially when the sheer mass of these vehicles and thus destructive capability is so great. I have understood for a long long time that the decisions (or mistakes) we make now and in the past can have an impact far into our futures and this is one of those for me (feeling the shockwaves three and a half years later). I have no desire to be a hazard. I can't even imagine being a part of such an incident as that driver that rear ended that SUV killing 4 of 6 leaving two foster children yet again without a family. I understand full and well the consequences of such irresponsibility as well as not being prepared for the unknowns. I have always tried to be courteous to the semi trucks I share the road with. I understand they need us 4 wheelers to at the very least be a little mindful (just an itty bitty bit). Please don't translate my question as a deliberate attempt at being irresponsible. I do respect you all for what you do and for the crap you deal with day in and day out. The only decent CDL school near me is nearly 10k and quite frankly the idea of more debt overwhelms me.

Well, only time will tell at this point, if I'll be joining you on the road. We shall see.

I think a number of good companies are OK with nothing in the past year. And look harder for a school. There will certainly be some in the 3500 range. If they are too far to commute, look at CL to find a room to rent for a month.
