I figured the gas situation would be corrected by now. So, how is it going for you guys? I was going to change careers to do this and it went where it is now.

Fuel prices don't affect company drivers.
No matter how severe the recession/inflation gets, food still will be transported nationwide; people have to eat. Refrigerated trucking drivers won't miss a paycheck.

Steak, Chicken, or Pork and gas.

They will eat more pre-packaged foods at home, thereby only changing the composition of the refrigerated loads. They won't be eating any less food, though.

I went through two recessions and my pay was always there. I was pulling reefers and nothing changed for me or my family. Weekly paychecks and summer vacations.

The funny thing is that we have become such a consumer based society, even the worst recession would only slightly decrease customers needing more product than they can receive. For most people driving a truck the work is as steady and stable as you are willing to handle.

I think if things are gonna go south, it will happen around July 4th. One of a few holidays when a crap ton of folks will want to be on the road and others heading to the stores for all of the parties and barbeques. Should be interesting. If we can get past that, I think we'll be in fairly decent shape going forward...maybe.
