Sorry bud, you don't know me or my needs. I have looked at other companies, even Considered an offer from Wal Mart. My needs are fulfilled with what I am doing. There is more to working than seeking the almighty dollar. You drive your truck driver, I'll drive mine.

Obviously alot better than swift. When you can go somewhere else and be home more, make more money, be treated better, etc. Of course there are companies worse than swift but when you can go somewhere way better why wouldnt you try?

I didnt make much money at swift, but it was by far the easiest, least stressful OTR I have ever done. 80% drop and hook and easy big store DC's and they have tons of terminals. Thats appealing to some folks

    inkeper Thanks this.

I am retiring from the Army. Looking on going on the road. See Swift up and down I-5 in the South Sound. Would you recommend them for 1st time drivers, should I attend there driving school or a local CDS school? Can I take my trk home? How long do you need to be on the road with a mentor? Thanks

Swift is a good company for new drivers.

If you go to the Swift school you will owe them for the education, whether or not you graduate. So make the choice.

You can take your truck home if you have a safe place to park it. Some areas are designated high risk by Swift (like the greater San Diego area).

You are usually with a mentor for 6-8 weeks. 240 driving hours is required, as well as a certain number of backings (of different kinds).
