You can make decent money as long as you manage it as a business owner first driver second. Fuel is your biggest controlable expense. You watch your mpg and keep the truck up to par maintenance wise and have a good dm you should be good. Swift wants you to have three 10000 months in a row and then you can go for it. I will be getting a 24 month lease buyout truck(no balloon payment) as long as I find one im happy with

As a company driver I have not had many 10000 months, not to mention in a row.
I might get 1 or 2 2500 mile weeks in a month, with the others being closer to 1800.

I just spoke to another driver that is only averaging around 1400 per week, which is worse than me.
He wants to run harder, but he just can't get any long runs or loads that do not have too much time.
Or loads that have too little time which have to be turned down.

I decided not to go to Swift I got a better offer and don't have to do the 6 week deal with a mentor. Since I was military a local dude gonna give me a chance I did the road test on Saturday and passed just fine. It just seems like wasted time for go out 6 weeks when I dont need to.

What are you cash reserves? ... you're going to have 30 days unlimited warranty ... if you do it right, most of that 30 days will be spent with the truck in the shop, taking advantage of the free repairs ... good news, you won't have a truck payment during that time, just insurance.

Swift spent $10K on my truck in the first 30 days. I've spent another $10K in the last year getting the truck to run the way I need it and fixing the things that didn't shake out in the first 30 days.

I would bring more then 6 days worth in 07 my mentor with Cr.England wouldn't stop long enough to wash clothes or to even shower we ended up fighting in Columbus Ohio over it. So if your lucky you get a clean mentor who will shower every day and allow you to wash clothes but if not you might be stuck like I was same clothes for 2-3 days, baby wipes and washing at the sink in restroom.
