I am trying to get my 1 year current OTR and then going to Mercer as a flatbed O/O when I was stationed in Texas I use to talk to the drivers and they all had great things to say. Plus no age restrictions on equipment so for about $20,000 investment truck and trailer Ill be good to go. Drivers tell me they average 10,000 plus miles a month and average over $2.00 a mile plus FSC so Ill be able to recoup the investment fairly quick. And if you look through this forum you will see other drivers saying good things about them. Swift would have been good for me being on the local dedicated but 800 a week after 6 weeks just isn't enough when this guy I just got hired with starting me off at .36 and garanted me 3000 miles a week. Its a good thing you didn't go through Swift training so you can leave when you find something better you being up North you have better chance of landing a good position with another carrier. I seen one had super 7 you work seven then get seven off but its slip seating.

when they offered the position to me they said they need something like 75 drivers. They was looking at first for experienced 6 months but couldn't find anyone so they opened it up to students. I wish you the best also bruh. I am sure Swift will treat you fine all the negativity I see towards them seem to be drivers with less then a year they probably didn't do their research before getting this line of work. The old timers thats been with them for awhile seem to say good things about them.

And the sad part ... right in the first training booklet, CRE policy is that the trainer must provide you with the opportunity to shower at least every other day.

CRE is a epic fail I had 2 trainers 1 never let me shower or wash my clothes the 2nd was a lease operator with 3 months experience lol hell the whole time I was out they never let me back pull into the truck stop or nothing we would switch at the rest area right by the on ramp so I wouldn't pull into a stall. I still owe CRE for training I tried sticking it out but it got to the point I wasn't getting paid. 300 a week at the time wasn't much but hell I wasn't even getting it half way through training. The good thing about CRE they sell cars to their employee's no credit check 50 a week on any car and you could request a certain car and they would look at auctions for it not a bad deal if you got bad credit I am sure they will find a way to screw you with it thoe.

about the same here, some weeks I get lucky and get close to that 3k, its not that im just sitting around its that the planners are not giving me what I need. Either the load has too much time on it or im just sitting waiting for something.

About the showers and mentors, get yourself a new mentor if he wont stop to shower. My mentor was very avid about getting showers every chance we got, normally I drove during the night then he would take over around 2am or so and be stopped around noon where I would be waking up to him pulling into a truck stop, we got our showers and did our stuff then I took over again. Only 2 times did we skip a day just due to time issues and not being near a truck stop we fueled at for the free showers.

And they try to run your hours to the very minute/mile.
I'm back to running recap and the next couple days are very short on hours.
I turned down one load that had me going nearly 800 miles, and I would only have about 12 on-duty hours to complete it.
It was a live unload as well.

This morning they stacked me with 2.
The first was picking up a short run from the NJ terminal, then grabbing one not too far away going to Charlotte NC to be delivered the morning of the 12th.
    600 miles loaded, 650 actual.
It will probably get a Mac22 because that first load took too much time, with the NJ traffic and slow back roads.
But it is a drop at delivery, and when I got the load assignment it had a delivery time 15 minutes later than the pplan - so I know there is a window that I can take advantage of.
It makes it harder because my hours don't roll in until 0300 local time.
