I picked up some trucking magazine/brochure at a truck stop. I've seen ads that sound too good to be true about earning a maximum of $300K a year. I know the saying "if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is". I know an exaggeration when I see or hear one. I've worked with restaurant managers who will exaggerate their $45K salary into $60K a year (they could be telling the truth or they could be lying and who brags about money out loud?). What is all behind these numbers? Is it to lure young people into trucking? Would I need to do 80 hours a week over-the-road? Would I need to have ALL endorsement possible to make a maximum of $300K a year? Work for the government? Drive nuclear warheads?
is the $150K-300K a year income for truckers legitimate?

Gross income for the lease driver on some companies. -
Need to sign up at TRUKZ hear you can make $300,000.00 over there in a heartbeat from my neighbours kid.

I've heard of lease operators for bedbug companies and some heavy haul doing $150K to $200K to the truck for a year. But after fuel, expenses, etc., etc., etc, $70K is more like it.

They can say anything they want when they are trying to "sell" you on a job. What they are REALLY trying to sell you on, is a couple of things. First, they are trying to sell you into investing in schooling. Second, and this one is the big kicker, they are trying to sell you on signing a lease, "for your own truck." Your own truck, of course, being the pie in the sky that will never really BE your own truck. You will just be taking on all the expense and responsibility. The "new truck" that they promise you will NOT be "new." In fact, it will likely be rebuilt from a wreck.
Company recruiters are paid on commission, just like used car salesmen. And most of them would make the average used car salesman look like an upright moral human being.Wiseguywireless and rocknroll nik Thank this.
