Well...now I'm depressed. I just started in this industry in July is this the way it's going to be from now on?

I have done just over 3400 so far and still have another day left before payroll. Not really noticed a change in freight. I also run alot of refer tho.

It's just trucking. There are good times and bad times. Normal cycle of things. If you are a company driver you are mostly insulated from it and really have very little to worry about. Yeah you might make $750 a week on average instead of $850. You don't have to worry about being starved out entirely.

...what is this 750 a week you speak of?

No but seriously a good week in this company so far is where I make over 400.

The economy has slowed, no doubt. What is your productivity, more importantly, how is your relationship with your dispatcher? Some freight is busier than ever like LTL and parcel delivery, other freight is raw goods and commodities dependant. Is your freight a niche market? Are you flexible for a dynamic market?

If you are paid mileage are you not dependant on long hauls? If you were dispatched for a 10 mile haul, would you take it? At $0.50 per mile that would be $5.00. On gross most likely it would pay a driver $75.

Are you positioned for a dynamic economy? How much do you value your contribution to the economy? Is your time only worth a mile?

Nobody was talking about keeping the door shut and driving Ms Recruiter. The discussion was about an overall shortage of freight out here.

Too many trucks chasing less and less "non-staple" freight. It's really just that simple. Then you can add in obamanomics has been a slow drain on the economy for many years, and this slow demise is beginning to be more noticeable as each quarter passes. I just can't see any meaningful turn-around in the near or mid term. Long term? Who knows but I would not be taking on any heavy duty long-term debts but that's just me.

I was really hoping I'd get a chance to reply to her before they deleted her lol glad somebody did.

If they were that great she wouldn't be begging for drivers across multiple threads. They wouldn't need to.
