I don´t know if is this question has been posted before. Searched around after some similar but didn´t found anything...

However, what I´m confused about is if the statements on iceroadtruckjobs.com is someting to take for real or not?

For example, they´re saying that:

How do I obtain a VISA to work in the Ice Road Trucking Industry?

A. If you reside in a country outside of Canada that requires a VISA, you'll need to contact the trucking company(ies) you are interested in driving for, and request an application. Then you will need to fill out the application, and send it back to the Ice Road Trucking Company for review. If they like what they see, they will then conduct a phone Interview. If you're accepted, you will receive a WORK PETITION for which you will then present to the Canadian Embassy in your country. Statistically speaking, over 85% of VISA's are issued when a petition of this kind is presented because of the need for driver's in the Yellowknife region.

and so on...

Seems pretty sensational suggesstions, but how much of all this is really true? Is it, for exampe, for me as a simple swedish driver just to call a companie, hoping for a chance and after that receive living, food, travels, education etc. for free? Is all I need to do just buy a book for 67 dollars, spend some time with mail and phone and after have everything in my own hands?

A Google search for Ice Road employers will give all the info found in the book . Several red flags here .
The home page clearly states they are not an employment agency
Read the "About us " and you will see they are located in NH , USA .
Read the FAQ and you will see there are always jobs available because there is a high turnover . Why would so many drivers leave if it is such a great deal ?
Are the statements true ? Probably . The book will tell you steps to take for a potential job but gives no guarantees .
It took me less than a minute to find employment info with an ice road company .

Do you really think there's a shortage of drivers that want to do this job?

It's bogus. Same thing as "make $10,000 a week working part time from home".

You think there's any danger out there. Food poisonong maybe. Maybe freezing to death if you broke down but in today's enviornment there's no way you'd go through the ice. Huey, Duey and Alex just make it out to be sensational.

Last one to go thru the ice and die in the Northwest territories was in early 2007 if memory serves me right. He was the son of a large trucking company that was also building the ice road which is what the youngster was doing at the time.

What "life"?

A life you´ll spending with typicall work four 40 years, been raised by television and finally ending your last days in some kind of privacy owned carehome there you´ll get your diapers weight by employers with ambition for saving money, in age of 82?

Or a life there you´ll mabye stop breathing 35-40 years old knowing that you´ve spent every day filled out and your last feeling is that you´ve lived your life every second from cradle to grave?

The first one - not at all. Second - more than life itself.
