    you never forget it?

start the truck in (depending on load) second press the clutch and brake start slowly rolling then double clutch or float the gears float letting the acceleration pedal off for a moment timing it, double clutch put in neutral then go to the next gear.
for backing setup with enough space then just back turning the opposite way you want the trailer to go.

or is there a length of time you will forget this? if you don't drive for a while.

I don't think so as long as your downshifting was good but it all boils down to listening and knowing your truck.

If you are looking to get back in the game Millis Transfer is a good company and takes new as well as drivers with gaps. Money wise see if Abeline will hire you on as well.

For some it's like second nature and for others they forgot everything and it also depends how nervous you are when getting back in the seat.

    Just like a bike.

I can hop into a rig right now after almost 20 years out and it will go where it needs to go, forward or back. That is not the problem.

It's the freaking LAWS that are the problem and the stupid dispatcher that has become abysmal .... and my favorite. Otto. Liable to short that over built robot out sooner or later.

LOL..... hey hey have some respect they are no longer called dispatchers
It is now known properly as driver managers.... had to give them a more proper title for the New Breed crowd so it looks like they have some Authority.

driving a truck is like pulling a wet noodle across a table. I would never compare it to a bicycle.

As to how long since last driven? I would have thought "how many miles did you drive last time you were out". I myself pull a trailer alot and still practice alot of the maneuvers required by our state with the pickup and equipment trailer
