Is the knowledge of driving a rig like the knowledge or driving a bicycle

I have a life time of miles and my last touch with big rigs was taking them to the barn with trailers for auction purposes. I also did a bit of Daycab jockey work supporting a production factory and it's shipping/recieving building a half mile down the road with about 40 plus trailers shuffle style. I was more than pleased to be able to just hop in and back in without trouble to about my customary one inch or so.

More important as a crew boss with a herd of CDL drivers some who knew the autos but not the manuals and vice versa. In addition some of the trucks were older ones with different challenges not apparent to those who only did push button computer auto trucking. That kept the rust off.

As far as OTR or local work... Ive had enough of that and have the scars and medical issues to prove it. Anyone who has driven enough will know what needs doing when they get inside a truck. Almost the same with flying. I still have some knowledge but it's obselete and frankly needs a complete retraining which also will not happen for a variety of reasons. One of which is my hands are too heavy to fool with a Cessna 152. Move the yoke just a little bit generates a huge change for me. Other people can have a lighter touch and fly much better than I can. It is what it is.

What troubles me is that when Otto shows up wanting to be undocked and taken to a highway and pointed at the destination, someone with no experience is going to be dealing with it. I know I wont.
