We are hearing talk at the water cooler (truck stops) that KLLM is soon doing away with all company drivers, that there are only places for L/O or O/O in the very near future. Is this true?

They had Swift being quoted as wanting 50% L/O or O/O's in the near future. KLLM may do that.

The only problem I see on this is the lease issue. Personally I think thee companis are going to have to sweeten the pot for the drivers going L/O.

We've all heard the stories and seen what has happened to L/O's both in real life and on the forum. Some L/O's ARE successful because they know how to run their business. Maybe if these companies provided counciling on business so more are successful, I think that the company would be better off. But that's my opinion only

I hope not because thats not my plan. My trainer is a L/O and he has been losing money since I've been in the truck. (hope it aint my karma) Been down since Sunday and all expenses are on him. Seems like he's digging a hole deeper trying to stay afloat. I'm new to this so I dont want that headache. No lease purchase for me!

That same rumor was floating around here on the forum over a year ago. Maybe it's not a rumor anymore?:biggrin_2554:

I use to be a L/O and left about a year ago. When we were doing the L/O orientation we were told they would like the company to be 80% L/O-O/O. I would not doubt 100% would be their ultimate goal. If you do lease a truck with them DO NOT take the maintenance plan, take the escrow account.

    OMG...not again.

Not to be a smarty such-and-such, but within this industry, I live by one mantra:

I'll believe it when I see it. And even THEN, I won't be real sure!

I AM (it seems) the only current KLLM driver in this thread, so I will give my 2 cents...

escrow is not ALWAYS better since you may pick a truck with a lower payoff and higher miles.... (mine is an 07 FL Columbia with 608k at the time of lease) I went maintenance, and GLAD I did.... I am in Maryland now at FreightLiner getting the turbo rebuilt (which the company is on the hook for)

If you get a newer truck.... by all means go Escrow...

KLLM has been VERY OPEN about their wish to top out and remain at about 70% lease 30% company

how many more times does this need to be said???
