The 3.8 is a good one. Even super charged it should easily go another 100k if you warm up and cool down the super charger.

I have 2 T880's in my small 5 truck fleet. I will never buy another one. One is in the shop right now, stuck in 1st gear. Both are 11L Paccar's with Allison transmissions. I love the Allison's, and the problem is not in the transmission, it is in the wiring of the truck. Keeps cutting power to the tranny setting codes. It does lots of other weird stuff as well. I had the tech at the shop tell me there are common issues with corrosion due to water leaks at two main power relays under the hood on the firewall. Apparently that is the problem this time. Just 3 months ago, I had to have 5K worth of exhaust backpressure valve etc. all at the turbo replaced. Alternator 9 months ago. This truck is a 2019 with 67,000 km on it!!!
Both trucks, the electronic dash with navigation resets constantly, they can never fix it.
On my 2017...the nav screen actually fell down in the dash and had to be put back in place. As mentioned before, wiring problems constantly...the 2017 had 150km on it the first time it had to be towed to the dealer...no start...main wiring harness was the fix. Twice the DEF line came off under the truck and lost all the fluid...directly to the dealer so it doesn't derate. I think I've had 4 tows to the dealer between the two trucks. I don't have the time or space to tell you about all the repairs. Spent thousands of my money and thousands of KW's money, but the downtime is all I care about.
I love the interior, driving the truck is awesome, feels great, pulls good, when it works, it is fantastic. But the unreliability I just can't live with. Will never buy another.
P.S. my old 2009 International Workstar with crank up windows starts every single day and does its job. My 2020 International MV Series (Workstar replacement) seems to be doing the same thing...the KW's are nicer, but also more $$$ and unreliable. Decision made. -
So a new problem today, my 2017 needs a blower motor. And because Kenworth decided to use a fancy variable speed blower, I'm told that my cost (which is jobber rate, not list price) is about $440. Just for the part, not installed. These are the most expensive trucks to fix or even to buy I've ever seen. But yes the cab is roomy and beautiful. Seat is very comfy, I wish I could have it in my International. Well I could, but KW wants so much for it, that would bring the International up to the price of the KW!
All in all, these are such nice trucks, they are easy to love. But if you are the guy paying the bills, they are easy to hate.
