Spot on. If someone has to ask, should I be an o/o, the answer is no. If someone says, I want to own one so I can make more money... ...then they're in for the wrong reason and will likely struggle. That is not to say I'm not in this for the money, because I am... ..but I have a passion for trucking and understand just because i bought a truck does not mean I make more money. No-one gives it away. If it were that easy no-one would complain about rates. It's not rocket science but you still have to think.... as far as personal responsibility seems like a rare trait in drivers. Probably a key ingredient for many a failure out there.

The OP didn't ask if he should be an owner-operator. He asked for resources to learn about it.

Is it against the law to comment on another member's comment?

This forum is the only resource I've ever used trucking specific. Regulations, taxes, maintenance it's here. Worked for me. I can also recommend some non trucking specific books that would be beneficial. One in the cab right now How Successful People Think by John C Maxwell. Those kind of books can be found on Amazon.

But really there is and never will be any substitute for real world experience coupled with common sense.

what have ya been doing the entire time you have been driving? have ya not paid attention? haven't you stated you run another business successfully?

you should be able to glean something from just that.
