The Racine, WI Petro and the Las Vegas TA both have Chiropractors that can also do your DOT physical, which can be a blessing when you are out on the road for an extended period of time.

:biggrin_2551: I was just thinking out loud again, becuse if i go out again, it would be my home and only come too home base once a month too take some time off, so yes is my vote for a walk in clinic , if say like the other driver said here , get a the flue or something , that be great for long range drivers who stay out long periods of time.:biggrin_2551:

Was that the female dentist that was also a dentist in the Army Reserve? If so, yes, she was a really good dentist! I had a tooth ache once with a serious sinus infection. I went to the hospital a few days prior and was told that the reason my tooth hurt was because of the sinus infection. I saw her office one day and I went to see her. I told her what was going on, had an xray, and she extracted the tooth that day. two days later, sinus infection was almost gone. Apparently I had a filling that fell out and that cause the infection. I returned about two weeks later and got a teeth cleaning. I was good for a few years until I felt another tooth ache. I waited until I could get by to see her since she usually took you in that day. The office was closed and I was shocked and thinking she went to Iraq. I later read about the changes with Arkansas causing her to close her office. I had to wait until I got home to see a dentist to be only told I had to make an appointment later in the week. Hard to do when you have to return to work. So I had that pain for another 2 weeks until I could get back home again to get a filling put into that tooth.

To the original poseter here, a "full service" walk in clinic will be good. All you need is a ARNP or PA that can do scripts. I would suggest next to one where you can get people that are traveling as well as locals. Another clinic tried that same thing and was at a few Pilots. Problem was, they were not full servie. They only did physicals and blood work to evaluate diabetes, general health, etc. They could not assist you if you were sick. This was their downfall. Now if they could do a full service check, then they would have done better. Even better if they had a small Pharmacy for those high needed scripts for things like pre-diabetes, acid reflux, Tamiflu for those with flu, a few OTC stuff, etc. Have the option for insuranse or pay cash for about $45 to $50.

Solantic does that here and does really well. There are many tourists here and they need medical stuff. It is $45 if you are sick and for the "Urgent Care" for like broken arms, hands, more severe stuff is $125. Their parking lots are slammed full and there is always people in the lobby. I go there myself and the Doctors usually rotate through for some extra cash from the local hospitals. Most of the time you can see the same doctor if you request a follow up when he is on.

I think if you have a similar business model as them, you will be good. We do need healthcare while out there, it is just so hard to find it that we would rather suffer then leave our equipment behind with the chance of something to be missing by the time you return.

Like Injun mentioned with UTIs, prostate problems are common for men. I suffered for 3 weeks with one because of the lack of medical care on the road. The problem after the visit though is getting to a location to quickly fill the prescription.

It certainly sounds like a good idea, but unless there is a truck-accessible pharmacy nearby, it may not do as well as it should. After all, lots of drivers will leave the clinic with a prescription, and others may need to get a refill.
