Is there a scientific chart showing how much fuel you save by going slower?

It really is hard to go that slow especially if you have a straight 10 because you're kind of in the valley between 9th and 10th. You really need to be going 65 not to lug the motor with typical fleet spec gearing.

I'm feeling a little slow today. Why would someone run 62 but log 66? Isn't the dilemma usually the other way around?

I really hate the 10 for that. It winds the engine out in one gear, then lugs it in the next. I have most of my time in a 13, but the freight shaker had a 10. it was like stacking worse upon bad.
I have found the 18 to be the bed for city driving. I have to run through parts of NYC and the 18 it the best to run through traffic with. I can slip it outta OD when the traffic slows and glide along. I love it. may all autos melt into h&ll!!
