I'm in Maryland. I know for CDL A the training can cost about $5K and Class B about $3K (estimate). I've seen trainers have posted on street light posts about a class per session ($180 a day/per session). I'm sure this will add up to just about $5K for CDL Class A. Do all CDL schools cost just about the same? I'm looking for one that I can just get right to the point with, get my training and get licensed.
is there a website to see where I can go to school for CDL Class A?

"on average" truck driver training has no average cost.
some schools will charge about $3,000 for a 160 hours course, which will get you by with some training, how adequate is that training, depends on how YOU learn and the actual amount of road time, which will be less than say a 420-460 hours course.
the full course training (more hours actually) can be $5,000 and up to $10,000. but now you should be getting at least 420 to 460 hours. however, there will be a near perfect split between classroom and yard time.....you will spend way too much time in the classroom, at least half of that 420 hours.....or 4 weeks.....the 4 weeks, in the yard/road....to me, 4 weeks classroom time is just not needed. one can learn in a weeks' time, maybe 2 tops.....
do a search, google search of schools in your area, and inquire with-in. phone calls to them will get you a salesman, but he will either want to go to your house, or he will get you to go to the school to look around.
if you want quick in/out, for the money and a class A CDL, then the 160 hour course......BUT you WILL NOT get enough road time.........and very often the quick course ends up with failures at the DMV road test........something else you should be aware of....
the longer the training, the MORE bored you will be, sitting in the classroom......and right now, winter is coming........you would be put into the yard about late january....in the deep freeze of winter......for 4 weeks.......expect school closures due to snow/ice conditions, expect NOT to go on the road when the weather is that bad........so now you miss valuable road time.........they WILL NOT take students out and into the bad road conditions..... -
Alot of schools advertise in the classified sections of papers in the trucking jobs. It will usually say something like No experience needed or training provided. They are usually schools that have lists of large companies that hire from them.
