Doesn't this job have a truck that you can use?

 

It is illegal to rent a truck to anyone who does not have a CDL because it is illegal to offer insurance for anyone without a CDL. Driving schools get around this by having special school insurance. Assuming you could find a truck, how do you plan on practicing before your test? You wont pass without practice. If your driving with a friend (probably not legal as far as their insurance is concerned) they should be able to take you to the test. If your plan is to rent a truck, drive around a bit then take the test, that's not going to work. You need a to drive with another CDL holder. If they rent the truck for you, you cant drive it. The only way to legally drive a truck while on permit is go to a trucking school or have someone you know get school insurance for you. No one on hear can leagaly rent to you and know one would be stupid enough to give their investment to a newbie to drive around in even if it were legal.

if i recall correctly i believe there is a truck driving school in fargo, i also recall a truck driving school in minot. motor vehicle does cdl testing in minot dickinson and a i believe willistion as well. if the company your planning to go to work for will let you use a truck you could scedual a appointment near them.

 

Go talk to the local school

 

O.p. I rented a truck from Ryder AND a cdl holder to ride with me. $500 bucks and 45 min later I was sporting a shiny new cdl. I don't know if you can still do that,but dunno y u couldn't. I paid for the truck and paid for the driver,boda bing,cdl.
