One good thing about Menards is they unload 7 days a week with no appts like home depot. If the store is open, they'll unload you.

Who cares when they unload. Their local runs are to cheap to bother with.

Just the idea that you can load one in Eau Claire headed the way you want to go and kick it off Sunday and be on your way. Instead of bouncing the entire way for nothing. Yeah, sometimes just bouncing empty is better. But if you can make a little without delaying another deal....make a little.

I'm not interested in making a few nickels. Id rather not waste half the day on a load paying 350 bucks. 2 hours to get loaded, 2 hours to get unloaded, plus the time to get on and off the road instead of heading down the road to my money load. No thanks.

And to think the hours wasted on that EOBR. That makes it even worse having to figure how giving that time away to Menard's for nothing is going to screw up your rest breaks before or after the good load. Total waste of time but you can clearly see here absolutely nothing has changed with the overall thinking out here.

You have to know the people. Yes, that’s happens once in awhile but I end up with 4 figures by the end of the day. We know the saying, you take the good with the bad. You just make the best of it. Yes.... I deal with traffic but you adjust to what time to leave and so on. Every picks the own poison, mine is local haul.

You can make good money local But you have to find niche work that not everybody knows about and there aren’t ten ads a day on Craigslist for. There’s a reason most work is constantly posted on Craigslist. I know people booking $1700 loads going from NJ to Long Island NY ,yeah $200 in tolls and traffic , but still great money. You have to find out where the moneys at.
I would also try and find a truck that’s ELD exempt (1999 or older engine)ELD’s are
Great for rates but totally suck having to use everyday. If you’re under 100 air miles your ELD/ log book exempt another big
    Plus running local.

    See what i mean ?
Lots of drivers on here saying what is cheap what is not what is good what is bad. Meanwhile business people are working hard serving people and getting rich because of it.
