Yes you go to NYC you'll see a billion old white straight trucks driven by questionable people with their own DOT numbers with unimaginative company names like Hulio Trucking, ABC trucking, Czech Trucking, etc.

I thing they must be counting all O/O whether leased or independant.Assuming 4 million,( don’t know if that’s accurate, I’ve heard 3.5-5 million) Truckers 250 k O/O would be 1 in 16. I would imagine Independants w/ Authority to be much less than that.

Yeah they need to change the definition of owner operators. It should be leased operators and owner operators. When I was leased on for two months I was basically a company driver with bigger bills. Now I control everything as a real owner operator. Sorry to offend the fake owner ops but you gotta earn that title.

253k 1 truck carriers are active, they are not necessarily O/O's, just business's with one truck.

They don't break down the numbers for all the, however since 200k out of the 550k carriers are private that a bunch of those one truck carriers are private.

Many of the one truck carriers are farmers, dump trucks, tow trucks, etc. The number of solo tractor trailer load board types are only a portion of the 253k.

Landstar drivers still have their authority? I thought you can either lease or operate under your own authority, but not both.

I saw that - they say about 200k private. But even assuming we take that away and put the same distribution agianst the numbers, that leads to 100k-150k for hire carriers with 1 power unit. Or are you saying there are dump trucks and two trucks and farmers that have for hire authority as well?
