I don't know where you are. But in DFW area Hobby Lobby post weekend jobs from time to time. Run to OK City and back to Dallas Sat/Sun. Don't think the pay is real great but not terrible either. They are out there if you look hard enough.

Some container and auto-hauling can be weekends only, picking cars up from auction and running them to the dealerships. Those jobs, however, are usually an O/O gig that hires a friend

Trouble is that might start out that way, but then you are theirs, and they'll suck you in. I worked for a friend, and it started out just Fridays and Mondays, then during the week he'd call me, then the next thing I knew, he wanted me to live in the truck, and he was going to get another truck. EEEENNN, sorry, adios. Casual drivers too, they'll call you day and night when something screws up, you'll be their "go to " person. I've found trucking just doesn't work that way.

I think it only applies if you drive out of the 150 air mile log exemption range. I only make that assumption because you are not required to keep a log if you work within 150 air miles of your home terminal. But yes, a second job needs to be logged if you are being paid for it.

Isn't that only if your weekday driving is for work purposes and not a commute?

Well, my "weekends" are Monday and Tuesday, but I work pretty much what the OP was asking... going on my fourth season with the guy, driving on an as-needed basis... in the beginning, it was maybe once every two or three weeks... now it's weekly, and, aside from picking up those wood burning pellets, I'll also haul drilling equipment for him from time to time.
So, yeah, such a thing does exist. Probably not the most common of things.
And yes, I do show my hours from my regular job in my logbook.

Many don't want to work weekends, so I'm sure you could find something. Not sure about the typical pay in Spfld, I know Worcester area is a couple buck shy of Boston area companies, but Western MA has gotten more expensive over the years so they probably still pay OK. I'm now living in VA and making $20.50/hr doing home daily stuff at a cheap skate company so you gotta be over that being in MA.
