1.75/mile ... Birmingham, AL to Richmond, VA (685 miles) .... 45,000 lbs no touch ... could be 30 to 40 loads per year. Looks like a fairly decent lane with not much going the other direction.

does it cover your expenses? At the current price of fuel, I wouldn't touch it.

For me with fuel where it is that rate is to low. Should be north of $2 a mile or $1.75 plus fuel surcharge.

if you don't take it someone will. :biggrin_25523: it is too cheap i.m.o. unless you could line up a real good rate load coming back.

I have been running loads on my trucks from the gadsden,AL area to Pittsburgh, PA fairly regularly. I have been doing it for $1760 on 686 miles(through a broker), if that tells you anything. I also consider Pittsburgh and easier place to get loads out of than Richmond, but that is obviously just my opinion.

With a DECENT sliding fuel surcharge--you could make it workable--but the more important question is what then?
You stated not much decent coming out--what you gonna do when you get there?--30-40 loads a year? Is this just for your truck--almost one load a week--if you sign a contract to do what do you do rest of time to make$$ and make sure you are where you need to be to move next load?

I wouldn't touch it for under $2 a mile and that is still rock bottom. And if there is nothing to haul back, No Way cause with the 685 mile deadhead you will be running for less than a $1 A MILE and that would just barely cover your fuel cost. :biggrin_25513:
