Hey guys, I recently bought my own tractor and got my own DOT and MC and I had intention of buying a trailer but I got nailed by the IRS this year so I cant afford a trailer right now. I figured I'd do power only until I have money to get my own trailer.
So far I got this offer:

1- Pull trailers for this company under their DOT and MC, (no trailer charge)
2- I have to have and pay my own cargo and liability insurance
    3- It's a dedicated route of 3000 miles/week between Maine and NY
    4- I'll get 1.50/mile including dead miles
    5- I'll be home twice a week

I don't know enough about Power Only to judge whether or not this is good deal....

Well what are your expenses? Figure out what you need, Do you have a good gauge of what you expenses are per mile? If you have that and you know what the rig is running by MPG then you will be fine. If this amount is in your range. If it doesn't work out you can always say NO.

That's a pretty crappy deal for that region. Tolls or running around them will eat you alive, as well as fuel well above the national average. Then the insult of paying for your insurance as well. Run from this deal, there are better leases up that way.

Mr. PlumCrazy and volvodriver01 Thank this.

If he has to pay his own liability and cargo insurance, do you really think they'll pay tolls?

We havent talked about tolls and detention, but I will mention this to him, do you think if he agrees to pay tolls and detention it'd be a good deal then?

Depending upon fuel mileage, that might work.

What would be a good detention rate? I'm thinking somewhere south of $50 an hour after 2 hours.
At 3000 miles a week running Maine to NY, I'm guessing there won't be a lot of detention.

that's 10 cents a mile, so your down to $1.40 and your insurance? Not a good deal in my eyes
