One I don't like. Opposing left turn intersections. They'll have both lefts green at the same time. You don't have room to take it wide. I've seen it on designated truck routes.

Or turn-arounds that are sometimes wide enough to do from the far left, sometimes you need two lanes and sometimes you're better off waiting on the light and making a regular left. It's like a box of CrackerJacks, you never know what the surprise is going to be.

Or how about the double lane flyovers? 50/50 odds, which lane ends before the merge on the highway. Engineers who design double-to-single lane ramps need to be hung by their cajones.

I think that’s called “ Michigan left” or something like that.

He couldn’t legally turn left onto Schoolcraft from Middlebelt Rd so he attempted to use that bridge…

I actually crossed that little bridge….just gotta turn from middle lane…

They use dotted lines which is stupid and confusing. Some of the dotted lines are yellow. I guess that's a two way.

Nah don’t put that on us… that’s Livonia haha…. That’s too much credit for us he said they rebuilt the highway… if it wasn’t for this new bridge to canada 75 and 94 wouldn’t have been touched.. also our freeway entrances/exits are approximately 2 neighborhood streets apart.

I saw some pretty bad ones in New Orleans. Coming in was bad enough. Couple turns from middle lane. Then coming out. One turn I looked at. No way. Not even from middle lane. I kept going to a next suggested by gps. That one was ok. Still tight. But not a ludicrous trap.
Even then. I ended up on another left turn. Two divided roads with islands in middle. I actually blocked the intersection till I got a green light on the other side. Didn't want to. Was left with this donkey dung of a situation.

Totally agree. There are plenty of on-ramps and off-ramps in Texas that require you to slow the truck down to 10mph to make the exit or you will go into the median or ditch.

Every state hires its share of idiots in all fields. It's called 'politics" and "unions". What other state has a "Michigan left turn"? The "left turn" where you turn right then make a U-turn through the median with traffic lights that are NOT coordinated.

Can’t help but wonder if they do things on purpose, to create extra or future work. New Jersey for instance. So many turn arounds, ramps, bridges. Same in New Orleans. Seems they could have had simpler, less expensive designs. I don’t think that’s the goal. All adds up to more future road work to repair existing, or a re design. Somewhere a Politician and a Contractor have conspired to over engineer the projects. Seems almost obvious.

I recall using one of those bridges in that area when I drove for Crete. It was not an easy turn. I made a mental note to avoid such a turn in the future.
