Is this an inside trucker rule I dont know about

Something interesting just happened and I asked a 4 wheeler friend of mine if I was wrong or not and he didnt understand what happened either so I figured this must be a trucker rule. I was at a Flying J, there were two registers open but instead of the normal two lines, there was one longer line. So I paused for a second and then figured maybe one line was for guys taking longer like buying fuel.

I just had a candy bar that I wanted to buy so I went into the shorter line and right when I was next one of the black guys in the longer line told me that I skipped. I tried to explain why I chose the shorter line and he said BS. I was looking at other truckers to see if they would agree I was wrong but they didn't say or do anything. I bought my candy bar in 10 seconds and left so I didn't hold up anyone, but was confused at why there were two registers with cashiers and one long line and a short line and how I was wrong for taking the shorter line.

Oh and I can see if I was in the back of the longer line first and skipped over everyone but I had just walked up and picked the short line. I wasn't trying to skip the line so not sure if I was wrong or not. Now that I think about it I wonder if he was wrong and thought I skipped from the end of the line when I just got there which is why he was the only one complaining.

To the OP: your first mistake was trying to purchase something at a Flying J in the first place. Even their "fuel desk" is handling pizza and hot wings purchases, with indecision about what kind of dipping sauce to get.

Your second mistake was purchasing a candy bar at a Flying J. Really? Beyond the sugar, there's always a Walmart somewhere along your route for restocking.

That's what intelligent people do. It moves faster that way, like alternating at a merge where traffic is moving slow.

Unfortunately, common sense gets less common all the time.
