I have been bombarded by calls and emails since I was granted my authority that I can't distinguish real vs fake. I have yet to complete my nesa and got this email today (attached).
I haven't received a letter from the FMCSA that I can recall about this, phone call I have no idea, just this email. Is this legit? The number is real and the email ends with .gov. I just want to be sure.
Is this email from FMCSA real?

A lot of scammers can spoof .gov emails and such. In this case the smartest thing to do is find a number on an offical government webpage and call directly. If its ligit they cam direct you to the correct person and you can take care of it. If its fake, you wont be scammed.
Easy peasy. As a general rule if you get something from the "government" but arent sure its ligit. 99.99% of the time just calling them directly clears up any confusion.Accidental Trucker, skallagrime and Old_n_gray Thank this. -
Thank you! Appreciate it.

You won't be able to trust 99% of the junk you will get in the mail or phone calls you will receive. Best thing is to know what you are responsible for and when it's due. Alot of these companies will try to tell you your UCR is due, or your MCS-150 is overdue, just know when and how to do things and it becomes very easy. Unfortunately the term "trust nobody" is even more prominent these days than ever before.
fwtransport, Opendeckin, hope not dumb twucker and 2 others Thank this. -
Call the real number and ask for Mrs. Ashley Hemingway. If you get her then all is good. If they haven’t heard of her then let them now of the scam.
fwtransport and 86scotty Thank this. -

Phishing email.
FMCSA will always communicate via US mail.
The only time I’ve ever been contacted via email was from Florida State Trooper FLHSMV
to coordinate my new entrant audit.
If you have any doubts just call the fmcsa..the couple times I’ve called they were pleasant to talk with.86scotty, Constant Learner, Oxbow and 1 other person Thank this. -
This could be a phishin attempt. Don't take the bait! Call FMCSA customer service but find and use the phone number off their website and ask.
