I received a link in my personal email account and it sounded too good to be true. Has anyone else received this link? And, if you have, what is your opinion of it? I would appreciate any input.

It's called "Team Driving Millionaires" and it talks about couples using team truck driver jobs to "propel themselves toward financial independence".

I am always leary about such claims and I would appreciate anyone's experience with this subject.

There is nothing special about that book. Husband and wife teams can easily make over $100,000 a year. If you live out of your truck and save all your money, you can bank a heck of a lot of money. Do that for enough years and you are a millionaire. The trick is saving your money and not blowing it on the road.

team driving is a quik route to the looney bin IMO

yes you can make some money....but 100k per year per driver????
    i highly dought it
how many miles is that at .24cpm?.....and yes thats about what most of them make per paid driven mile...and no you dont get paid for every mile you drive (99% of the time you drive about 10% more miles than you get paid for)

team would be ok if you really like the other person....most times it dont work out that way

plus i suppose you'd like time to shower, eat and do other natual human things besides drive and sleep

I could be wrong, but maybe thats for husband/wife teams? My wife and I drive team and do pretty well. I believe a million dollars is definitly possible, but it requires patience a perserverance. Oh yeah, and a strong marriage!

Love the ole lady but if we were team driving one of us would be in the ground and the other in prison.......Don't guess a million would do any good then........LOL....j/k; but I don't think we could stay married like that.

$100,000.00 a year, gross as a team, maybe if you are VERY,VERY,VERY lucky, in the right place and at the right time,EVERY time, then subtract 25 bucks a day per person for expenses, if you are careful and like wendys value menus a lot.

reality is there is a huge glut of trucks and drivers right now, has been for several years and will be for years to come, thankfully I have been able to talk several family members out of becoming drivers or at least delay their decision until this business recovers,if it ever does.

It is all about the specifics...

With my own rig (truck trlr) and my own authority - and my own bond/brokerage - I always made well over 100K

after all expenses I made upper 90's to low 100's...

But having full control of your "biz" is a lot of work and not every driver out there is able to juggle.

as for teams - I know we have many husband wife teams at roadway making between 140 and 190K a year (gross in a company truck).

as for the industry and demand for drivers - even in a slow economy the demand for drivers is great.

You have to factor in the fact that attrition eats about 2% of the OTR guys a month.

MANY many people get into this not knowing what is "up" - and their seats have to be filled.

As ofr11/21....Lo and I have Grossed $267,488.82 for the year.....with SEVERAL weeks off......some planned...some not. I'll say that our part so far....is under $100K....Have we saved a ton of it.....NOT as much as we would like.....have we helped our family....OH YEAH.....have we done some updating to the house.....OH YEAH.....

But, as I was telling her the other day......we are gonna have to tighten up our Charity Belt.....and start putting more in the bank. But, it's hard to do since you always want to help family out when they need it....and if things go the way we're afraid they will......we may just have to buy a big ole' house and get EVERYBODY under one roof. Like FAMILIES did back when.....I guess we're blessed that our family actually likes to spend time around each other! LOL

I am not an owner op but I do run team with my spouse. We started driving team in November of 2007. I trained her personally (after cdl school which was 4 weeks) for an additional 6 weeks. We are splitting .48 cpm and are currently on a dedicated route. We ran between 4400 miles and 5200 miles per week over the past year and to date we have earned a little over $116,000.00. Based on my projections we should hit around 125,000.00 for the year.

We do not run 24/7 like many other teams do. We shut our truck down for 5 to 7 hours per day on average to get some quality rest. That means the truck is rolling for 16 to 18 hours per day which permits us to rack up around a thousand miles per day.

I have seriously considered getting our own truck but the numbers are not sufficiently high enough for me to go that route. Most carriers advertising in the trucking mags are only offering around a buck per mile plus fuel surcharge. I refuse to work for less money than I can make as a company driver and would not give up the benefits we currently enjoy without replacing them as owner ops or even upgrading them.

If you are willing to run that truck 24/7 you can rack up well over 330,000 miles in a calendar year but the more miles you put on the truck the faster it is going to wear out and the lower the resale value at trade in.
