Is this for real, or sound like a good deal?

    Are you kidding me?

Let me put it to you this way. ANY time that an O/O is going to be paid in CENTS per mile you know he is getting screwed. At $3 a gallon for fuel and assuming a 7mpg truck your fuel cost per mile is .4285 per mile, add in another .40 per mile for driver wages and you're already behind the 8 ball, with NOTHING going for truck payment, truck repairs/maint and truck replacement.

He said the company paid for fuel, no surcharge mentioned. Wouldn't that make a big difference? Just wondering.

You could still drive a company truck and clear more I bet.

even if they paid all the plates, permits, fuel etc. (which there is some companies doing) then you got $.62mi left over for Truck payement, repairs, maintenance, your pay, taxes and health insurance

When I had my truck, I talked to Market Transport out of Portland, Or. They offered this same deal. (3000 mi a week times .62 =$1860 gross.) My only expense would have been my truck payment/ins. This was when fuel was at $4.80 gallon.

Figure it this way, take what a company driver would get and subtract that from the .62 and that's what you have left over for your truck payment and maintanance and repairs. So if you pay your self say .34 cpm then you take your taxes and what not out of that. So is .28 cpm enough for your truck fund?

    JustSonny Thanks this.

I'm betting the IRS would not view this as a true INDEPENDENT contractor arrangement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"We pay: Fuel, Road Taxes Licensing, Insurance & $0.62cpm"

    At 2000 miles a week X .28 X 4 weeks = $2240 to pay for the truck
That's $24640 annually for the truck with an 11 month year
And 29920 annually for dinner, drinks & a movie.

I'm guessing they want me to have a trailer too, but I'll bite and give them a call
