.25 per mile and they find folks who drive for them? It seems we fought the Civil War for no reason at all.

I sorry, I must be reading the rates wrong. It looks like after 5 years you can make up to 40 cents per mile. My first job only paid 45 cents per mile. I have been guilty for too long of having made fun of the Swifties out there. If you people don't strike then I would say you should all start parking in the handicapped spots.

Don't you get angry with your low wages?

I have no problem with paying my dues and earning experience and climbing the company ladder. That is, if everyone else in a similar situation is achieving similar results. If this is not the case, and I can improve my situation with only 3 months of experience, then I would have no problem in making a career move if possible.

More than likely though, this is what all new driver's should expect. After enough experienced has been gained (2 years or more) then I believe that one can transition to a better paying position.

So, I am not "angry" per se as I came into this business expecting to pay my dues for a couple of years; I don't need top pay just out of training.

Just putting this out there. If you drive say 400 mi/day @ .35 cpm for 5 days. Can you still do that? That's $700.00 before taxes + overhead (food, ect.) expenses. Not much left for a rainy day not to mention benefits or god forbid you want to retire before your 112. It just doedn't seem to pencil out for the driver. If you don't get hurt, crash, burn out or just plain wear out what's left at the end of the road for all your hard miles?

Actually, 1100 miles at .28 cpm is $308.00. His gross mileage pay is 528.92. If hes making .28, his mileage would be 1889.
