So I been in a hotel room for the past 6 days now cuz my trainer went on home time last Saturday but he got back on his truck 2 days ago. He's a lease operator. He got a load yesterday morning but it was cancelled. I been training with him for 2 weeks and it seems like we get loads but then they get cancelled. First week the truck did about 5000 miles, 2nd week we did 3400 miles which in my research is low for a team trucks. But my concern is that my driver manager says that I'll get layover pay for having to wait so many days at no fault of mine. They say 100 for the 1st 48 hours and then 100 for every following 24 hours. Now I'm new but this sound a little to good to be true. The company is paying for my room plus giving me 100 a day in compensation. I've ask the driver manage 3 times about this and he reassured me that I'll get paid for all this "waiting time.". So my question is....is this normal in trucking?....is my driver manager telling me the truth??
Is This Normal??

I hope your value your time more then that. And whether it’s true or not you’ll have to find out. Get stuff written in text and not over the phone.

$100 per day layover is standard at Swift.
So is paying for the motel room in those situations.
The same for shutting down for weather or being in the shop.
Too good to be true?
Nope. But it is good, none the less.
You would be making more running the miles.
Be happy your company is not leaving you out in the cold.
Your trainer, as a lease operator, is not getting that compensation.
He is basically running his own business and has to absorb all that down time on his own dime.
And that is just one of the things to consider before you sign on to a lease agreement.Wargames, D.Tibbitt, Just passing by and 3 others Thank this. -
