I have a coworker who told me the reason his truck and jakes are so loud is because someone dropped some D batteries in his stacks long ago. How is this possible to put something in your stacks and not have it tear up the motor? I looked and he just has stock stacks with mufflers plus he is company.. so I don't think he would pay for performance mufflers just to lie to people.

Some people gut a stock muffler to make it louder.
I'm in the minority, but I won't drive a loud truck; I want it quiet even using the Jake.
Loud trucks attract police and hatred from the general public.

I need my truck quiet too, you can't roll through gated communities to pick up cars and rattle windows.

To the O/P, I think your co-worker is licking D batteries.

The ONLY advantage of having a truck with a DPF system. Makes the jake awful quiet so you can still use it in town. I like the quiet ones too, our new KW has DPF, it's a garbage system but I can still use my jake hauling snow in town ... in the middle of the night.

Lol.. we haul fuel.. so he may just huff the fumes too often. Either way.. his classic is probably the second loudest truck I've ever rode in. The first was a western star tow truck in Nashville that has huge straight pipes.. you couldn't even talk his truck was so loud.

    I dare you.

Just try to climb up the opening to drop some batteries in.
    Easy, isn't it?

So the lead leaked out of the batteries and ate a hole in his mufflers, LOL?

No your coworker is right to an extent. Battery acid eats through the fiberglass packing when they heat up and explode.

But at the same time age can blow out the the packing.

I watched a youtube video that showed a 6 volt lantern battery was full of "D" batteries so everything you hear and see may not be 100% true....many many moons ago I drove an Autocar AT-64 with 5'' straight pipes yupp it was cool when I was a kid just starting out...couldnt make me drive something like that now...quiet trucks with short hoods now thats my style...been there done that and got the t shirt to prove it...but them days are gone
