1.45 is less than break even when you try to include driver income in that truck. Forget it.

If they wanted O/O's make it 2.30 a mile.

    KNGPIN310 Thanks this.

Shoot I'm averaging a 1.93 a mile and barely scraping by imo. I have kept company job in the back of my head where I can make 70k a year minimal running flatbed. If things don't pick up here pretty soon I may actually take it.

Race to the bottom continues, with or without your help:(. The way I see it, owners need to protect their individual drivers record, running these low rate loads more than their equipment, if they have outstanding loans.

I'm sure out of the loop. So, $1.45 today, is like the .87cpm 25 years ago, that I ran for? If I hauled $1.00/mile freight back then, I could afford to take a day off. Didn't get rich, but didn't go under. Not much has changed, apparently.

    For 10,000 miles per month - Fuel @ 6.0 mpg @ $2.75 per gallon $4,600
    Driver Pay $4,000
    Truck PYMNT $2,000 (Used Truck)
    Maint. & Repair Fund $2,000
    Bobtail/Col/ Physical /WC $ 500
    Tags & Permits 250
    2290 50

Just these items alone running 10,000 miles a month puts your CPM @ $1.34 per mile

1.45 ALL miles. Is that deadhead included?

What's the amount of deadhead miles?

Mercer and landstar don't pay ALL miles.

My company pays 1.50 loaded and unloaded all miles but there are no costs to the owner op except his truck and fuel. Everything else is covered which end of the day adds up to a lot. Not a terrible deal for the right person. Probably about like making 2/mi and paying for everything. All how you slice it.
