You would definitely do better to pursue the medical field financially, but I can certainly understand it not being for you. It seems you have a lot of time invested in education, is there anything else you are considering at this point in your life? You can do very well for yourself trucking, but as stated above there are a lot of headaches, particularly in your first year. This is an industry where you will absolutely love it or hate it, and after years of doing it it can be very hard to go back to a regular lifestyle. Once you get used to being alone on the road, it can be hard to go back to a job where your surrounded by people all day. Take some time, read more posts on this site, and call some companies and compare them. If you choose to make the leap into trucking, best of luck to you. If you ever any questions, just be sure to ask them, you'll always find good people here happy to answer them. Good luck!
Is truck driving a good fit for me? Details inside.

Where do you live??? That will make a world of difference as to what your driving opportunities will be like.
I always though US Express was a Truck Load (TL) carrier. With 40,000 trucking companies out there some have nearly the same names.
Check with the community colleges in your area to see if they offer truck driving because if you can afford it that will be a way better way to go. If you are nearly bankrupt or no saving whatsoever then perhaps company training will work.
If I were you I would never sign with a company that MAY put you with a male trainer. Look up what CRST did to their women trainees.
Before I started driving a truck I was not afraid of trucks. The more I drive the more I fear them. Being tailgated is what I hate the most. -
If you want to be sure you'll get a female trainer check out Schneider national. they 'll make sure you have a female trainer and if not they'll put you in a hotel while the male trainer sleep in the truck. this was two years ago I don't know if they still do that now, so I'd ask

I had a cool female trainer, she smoked but not in the truck which was cool with me.

I called Xpress. They want me to come in for an interview that's 3 hours away. The school I will be training at is also there. They said they will pay for a motel during my three weeks with them. I don't have a reliable car at the moment and everyone that can take me are busy with their own things. I also found out there was a catch with the paid training. Sure they pay for you it's just you have to pay the $6,000 back to the loan people who they set up for you. If you leave before the 3 weeks are up the loan is still yours to pay. I already have two student loans on me now I definitely don't want another. * Sigh* Looks like I won't be able to do this right now. I'm still going to put my application into the system, on their website, so I can try again when I'm better prepared to.

Good move. Most schools charge 18% interest. And the trucking companies that remburse you pay you like $150 a week and you have to stay with them at least a year. I was lucky I paid with my GI bill and I got a 50% discount if I could pay off the loan in two months. so my GI bill money paid for the first half and I threw my oriention/student pay at the other half. Check out community collages to see if you can get a better deal. Check out swift. I heard that their schooling is half what truck driving schools charge.

I called the community college in my town and they do offer CDL classes. The next one starts in Jan. It's five weeks long. Monday through Friday from 8-5. The class is $3,000. They have numerous scholarships and other programs to help with the cost.
I think I like it better this way because I won't have another huge loan on me,and won't be tied to a company for a year. I might have a CDL come Feb! Ehhhh
