It all depends what type of trk driving you do_OTR isn't even min wage.Locally pays anywhere from 20 to $25.00 an hr.Except where I work,I get paid by the load.

I work LTL. For vacation purposes he company issue each diver an hourly figure based upon gross pay divided by hours worked the previous year.(which is the amount an individual has averaged per hour). This is the hourly rate we get paid during vacation/sick days/ personal days. My figure for this year is $32.87/hr

so many bad hourly wage figures in this post 120 hr week work lol no way in hell 60/70 hrs max in 7/8 days a week is only 7 days last time i checked which is typical pay periods
    60[SUB][SUP]hrs[/SUP][/SUB] x 52 weeks =3120 hours per year (-2 weeks vacation)3000hpy) or [70 hrs X 52w = 3640 hpy (-2 week vac) 3500) ]
    miles driving will vary 11[SUB][SUP] hrs[/SUP][/SUB] x 55 mph= 605 miles per day..... 650 x.30[SUP][SUB]c[/SUB][/SUP] = $195.00 * 14 [SUP][SUB]hrs[/SUB][/SUP] max= $13.92[SUB][SUP] hr[/SUP][/SUB]
    (or 10 x 55=550mpd 550 x .30= $165 * 14 [SUP][SUB]hrs[/SUB][/SUP]=11.78 [SUB][SUP]hr[/SUP][/SUB])
    so $13.92 x 3000[SUP][SUB]hrs[/SUB][/SUP] = $41,760 year or [13.92 X 3500hrs =$48,720 year]
    (11.78 x 3000[SUB][SUP]hrs[/SUP][/SUB]= $35,340 year) or [11.78 X 3500hrs =$41,230 year]

now there are variables that increase or decrease your total pay actual miles driven due to weather, speed, traffic, loads etc.. pay per mile .28c ++ detention pay, tarp pay, etc consider them as Bonus pays as there is no real way to say how many every one will have in a given year

    rookie drivers 28c mile average
    605 mpd X 28c = $169.40 * 14 hrs = $12.10 hr (550mpd X .28c = $154.00 * 14 hrs =$11 hr) +/- bonus pays

    weekly est miles
    650mpd * 7days = 4550 mpw x 52w 236,600 mpy
    550mpd * 7 days = 3850 mpw X 52w 200,200 mpy

you wont get that many days in per week with resets average 6 days
    640mpd * 6 = 3900mpw * 50w = 195,000mpy
    550mpd * 6 = 3300mpw * 50w = 165,000mpy

in reality this is about what you should expect as an OTR driver milage wise as a rookie
    @.28c X 2200 = $616 week * 60 hrs = $10.26 hr /.28c X 3200mpw = $896 * 60hrs = $14.93 hr +/- bonus pays

    2200 * 6 days = 366.666miles per day 3200 * 6 days = 533.333333 miles per day
now these are in no way average miles driving but you should be able to do at least these many miles per day as long as loads & milage & time management allows
some rookies will get bad loads some will get great ones but Time management is what factors in how much u will get paid per hour the most. as even if you only do 2200 miles in a week if done right the amount of hours put in should be around 40hrs at 55mph. 55hrs for delays at shippers loading, unloading, tarping, breaks, etc. 15 hours is 2.5 hours a day for 6 days

some will disagree many will not IMO

I can't do all the fancy calculations. But I can say OTR is a good bit more than 10/hr starting out, much more after exp. My job right before trucking was 11.50/hr and OT pay with around 50-60 hrs of grueling work per week. I was lucky to get 1000-1100 after taxes and 401k. Trucking, to me at least is not "work", in the sense. Your labor for the day is fueling a truck and/or unhooking/rehooking air lines, other than that you just sit in a chair and watch fat chicks give roadhead down the interstate.

But I can say from my previous job being 10/hr that I'm usually making the same in one week now as I would in 2 weeks before, and I actually have energy at the end of the day. Only thing that sucks is you can't go to your cozy house, and for that reason alone I would like more money lol.
