If Rush is on XM I would like to know.

Hannity 2-5pm central, Levin 5-8pm central; I think the channel is called "Right" or something like that.

That's a lot of miles! Are you team driving? If not...You won't last long.

It can be...But, It's what you make it. If you don't interact with other people (CB radio) You're gonna get bored. I never get lonely, I enjoy my own company. I spend a lot of time thinking and if I want to talk to someone and no one's on the radio I call a friend on the cell phone and B.S. for a while.

No wonder! You sat there for 12 hours and drove 880 miles! Mine would be sore too.

    Probably...

    TRUCKIN' ISN'T FOR EVERYBODY!!!

Truckin' isn't for everybody, that's for sure. But, please don't give up after only two days. I found solice in talk radio. Music would put me to sleep, but listening to people share their variety of opinions kept my mind active.
I drove for about 5 years before I decided to get satellite radio, and I really like it. Wide variety of programming from political talk, to old radio shows, sports, just about anything.

    good luck.

    You're not missing anything.
That's 90% of the job right there...holding a steering wheel mile after mind-numbing mile.
OTR will turn your mind to mush.
And due to the poor diet, lack of physical activity, sitting on your ##### all day....will add plenty of girth to your waistline, as well.
Look around a truckstop and most drivers you see are severely overweight, morbidly obese, edema of the legs, high blood pressure, sugar problems, etc.
Not to mention sweating your ### off in a hotbox because some dude sitting in an office with the AC cranked down to -200 kelvins is hollaring about all the money you're sending up the stack.
    Long-haul trucking stinks!
Why do you think the turnover rates are through the roof in this biz?
    RUN AWAAAAAYYYY!!!!!!!!

Wow that's a long day and a lot of miles for somebody driving through states zoned 55 for trucks. Did you also drive that 880 miles on the same day you blew out a steer tire, and a trailer tire?

Ya, I found that between the CB, my cell phone (handsfree of course! GRRR), and my XM, I got all the friends I need really. Throw in some good dvds when yer off duty, and the *ahem* colorful folks you meet in the truckstops, and you can have a more eventful life then most office workers. :)

After driving that many miles my butt would be sore too. It can be boring but music tends to help me out. I have an ipod touch and satellite radio. I have about 22,000 songs on my ipod and i'm constantly adding music. When you get real lonely try calling a friend or family member to just shoot the breeze.
