I don't understand why Walmart has swift, England terminals on site? Why don't they just make it all private fleet?

Could be a grandfathered in thing, from before they were big enough, or a state controll deal kinda like a anti trust thing. Like yes you can put a store here but you have to suport other business while your at it. Just a thought

They use outside carriers primarily for refrigerated loads. They are also used as fill-in when general mdse / dry groceries are too busy for the fleet to handle. They don't hire more because they only hire what they can keep busy year around. They never want to have to send a fleet driver home early due to lack of work. My husband is a low seniority driver and has never been sent home due to lack of work. He has been there almost 2 years.

A friend of mine worked for Walmart for a number of years. He absolutely loved it. He even did the west coast to Alaska run, which he also liked very much.

He's retired now, but never had a bad thing to say about working for Walmart.

yeah if you love getting passed on the right and the left.some will never get the fact that it isn't always about the money.i've never driven a slow truck yet i have driven for few cents less per mile to not do so.I have never been micromanaged either with all the electronics the majority of drivers relegate themselves to.

personal choice.it is still America for the time being.

I am not the only one to have that mindset although most won't admit it.
