Wal-Mart insurance is far from good/and/or/cheap. The monthly premiums are relatively cheap, but the deductibles are a joke. Max out of pocket for just me and my wife combined is $13,700.00 yearly. Do some research.

Don't get me wrong, after 25yrs of OTR, it's nice to have a steady schedule, very fortunate to get on a 6/3 program so early. I've always made decent money driving, but have ran awfully hard to get it. Now I make a little more, but run legal. Getting used to "big brother" always monitoring can be a little sickening at times, but it seems like that's the way things are heading. It a actually isn't as bad as I thought it would be.

If you come from somewhere that already has a bunch of this tech in their trucks it's pretty quick to get use to. Just drive slow like the old hands do and take it easy. The guys running until there's 30 seconds left of their hours and speeding everywhere are the same ones I see in safety's office.

Other than union companies the insurance is the typical plans you get at most companies. But still probably better than what any large otr carrier offers.

I hear ya! I love the pace here, 100% mine. Last 6yrs was reefer, run run run, Chase the dollar. I've taken your advice in the past, 1-2 hrs of time left I start looking where I'll shut down, depending where I'm at and traffic, weather ect. Last night had 20mins. I make plenty, keeping my left door shut. Still learning everyday, and also getting my routine down to where I'm more efficient. I think that best advice is don't rush to make as much as you can, just operate safe, get the job down, and the adp will rise as you get more efficient. I'm so ready for this pace at this time in my life. No more high blood pressure as the open scale approaches.

yea I currently have been on elogs threw Qualcomm or peoplenet for the last few years. so I understand stand all those things. just never did the driving gps thing on unit. i always keep me big truck map and plan my trip before leaving. the local freighter gig i have now always stays on my ### about how much time i do a pretrip and postrip and drive. im only 37 but work and drive like im 67. it doesn't pay to speed or get in a hurry and it doesn't pay to get out of ur comfort zone.

I still haven't figured out how to get these big 450-500 daily days people keep talking about, but I like being here because I get to keep my own pace.

I don't make as much money here, but like another said I'm not being hassled that my pretrip and post trip weren't under 5 minutes like hourly jobs think you should do it lol.

That's because they have it on the floor and stay in a hurry. I'm in Texas and I have to hustle to have those days unless im working the weekend and even then I have to hustle.. Well I say hustle its Cadillac compared to my previous job. That's with me D&H at store, check lights, tires, and open door to see if empty, enter info into computer and leave in sub 7-8 min. If they are doing it faster then they are MOVING!!

My ADP has dropped because I've slowed down a tad. Within 5-6 months of me starting it was higher than my trainer and he's been at WM for 15yrs!! I have to coach myself to slow down cause I'm so use to "by the load mentality".
