Hi everyone, I am looking into Watkins and Shepard
I have not really seen anything to bad about them on here
I just want to make sure I'm not going to go into a company that i'll regret
I already was burned by Werner and don't want it to happen again.
thanks for any info![]()
Is Watkins and Shepard really a good company?

You might want to check with the recruiters and ask them about all the good loads with alot of miles that they are giving to outside trucking companies while company drivers sit at the terminals..
FYI The outside company will only take lots of miles with no more that 1 drop.... -

I got over 3200 miles last week on only 2 runs, so the miles are available for company drivers. As for "outside trucking companies", I'm not sure I've seen this, although I do see O/O that are leased on to WS...mostly skateboarders tho. So, yeah, I'd like to hear more about that as well. Dani, are you a current WS driver? If not, how do you get your info? Inquiring minds want to know

I got back going Saturday after my 34 hour reset and am sitting at almost 1400 miles in 3 days. I am VERY happy I joined Watkins Shepard, I read this board for almost 5 weeks before deciding on a company to go with. Roxy in recruiting is great, very honest and blunt about anything you might ask.
Good Luck. -
No I'm not a driver but my husband has worked for Watkins for over 20 yrs...It has always been their policy to contract their overflow loads to outside trucking companies but not at the expense of letting their own drivers sit, anyway until now. He was in NC for 2 days while 2 loads to Denver and SLC went to an outside company. He was at the terminal when he saw them.
The hard part for him is that he has seen the company from what it once was to the way it is now. So to the new drivers it probably does seem like a good company.
Oh and he did get a load out of there to Denver this morning. -
Buehl has been running loads for years. He probably showed up when the trucks were already scheduled.

Blue Screen and JustSonny Thank this.

Believe me he's been around long enough to know that...He never refuses a load and has never been late for a delivery. He knows exactly what happens to drivers who do refuse loads or refuse to do local work which he does whenever it's assigned to him.
As backissore commented possibly they were already assigned before he got there. Don't know for sure but that's a possibility. -
I would agree if dispatch was not paying attention to you husband coming in maybe those loads were already assigned. It sucks but I would bet that is what happened.
