isit illegal to leave trailer crank down?

    Sometimes the hook is ripped off so is it okay to leave it dangling?

    Duck tape it to leg support.Go around many times, so it not gonna break.

    Or buy a 2.50 tarp strap (heavy duty bungee cord) and bungee to landing gear, reusable for a,while

    Yeah, I'm just guessing but I don't think it's a danger to anyone. It doesn't swing out further than your mirrors. That hook is probably just to keep it from getting damaged. Good idea to tape it or bungee it anyway.

    This is actually required if you do intermodal or ltl...in addition to the landing gear only half cranked up...promise.

    I doubt it. Like 77 sez, with intermodal, you're lucky to have one at all. What SHOULD be illegal, is when someone drops a trailer, and doesn't drop the handle down. The epitome of laziness.:biggrin_25513:

    I have to ask "semi" retired how many times do people ask"what is armstrong steering?" nice truck though.Back to subject I know some cops might pull you over then do inspection or D.O.T. sees it may just figure you have junk.

    Armstrong steering= NO power steering!
    I drove one for years and had ape arms....lol! Really not that bad as long as the truck is moving but hell if you get yourself in a tight spot.
