    Power steering is center point.

Never had an issue with a rocking handle.

I drove GMC cabovers in the early 70's until Nixon came up with the most unpopular idea of the 20th century : the national 55mph speed limit to conserve fuel . I had Popeye arms . After a few years as a framing carpenter , I had one Popeye arm .

Do you really have to ask? Do your job secure it with a tarp strap, bungee cord anything for that matter dont be lazy do your job if you have to ask if its ok its obviously not. In the time it took you to ask if it was ok you could of secured it and went about your day

While there is a point in your post most veteran drivers possess, this is the "Questions From New Drivers" section. Give the guy a break.

He asked a question which has actually turned out to be a viable one as no one knows if it's a violation or not.

Hi reefer, not to often. Usually anybody that's trucked for a while, which is most of us here, knows about manual steering. That truck really wasn't that hard to steer. I drove a Mack R model that was twice as hard to steer. Getting rid of that truck was the 2nd biggest mistake I made in my life. The 1st biggest, of course, was the ex-wife that made me sell it in the 1st place.

The "hardest" thing about "Armstrong Steering", was trying to steer at a dead stop. You had to roll a little bit, and this gave us (at least to me) less resistance/dead weight on the steers, and was able to steer easily. But I must also admit, I am not very tall, or heavy in weight. There would be times when I had to stand up and steer standing up! Now that was for yard moves, NOT on the road!!

Too bad you were made to sell it. Long ago, came retrofit power steering units. And I do not mean the air operated ones either!

I'm redneck through and through, I carry duct tape and bailing wire, if I come across a trailer handle as described, I cut a length of wire, wrap it around the support...there you have it, a makeshift handle holder thingy...

In a pinch, zip ties solve many problems.
