Isn't there a date for 1099s?

    Aren't companies supposed to have the 1099s sent out by a certain date? Anybody know when?

    Suppose to be out by January 31 if memory serves. Postmarked by that date.

    A lot of the big outfits are no longer required to send out 1099's, under the Paperwork Reduction Act. CHR stopped issuing them a number of years ago.

    1099's to the recipient are required to be postmarked on the 31st.

    However, the IRS will not get involved until after the 15th of February.

    That's because the 1099 is only required if the issuing company actually paid for services. CHR doesn't have to issue them. :biggrin_25512:
