I'm having issues passing the road portion of my CDL class A test and am looking for some advice. I passed the pre trip and skills portion on my first try fairly easily. Once i got to the road portion i started off very well. I was about 75% done on my loop back around to the DMV and i messed up on a left turn. Excluding details, my trailer end was still in the intersection by the time the light turned and i did not pass. had to wait over a week to re schedule. I re-tried the test again today and immediately failed on the second turn. I stopped short of the stop sign and started to pull up to see past the sign on my right. The instructor yelled stop and claimed that i was going to hit a car coming around a curve, even though I was not yet making the turn i was simply inching forward to get a better view. She claimed there was no obstruction to my line of sight and that i was starting the turn and was going to hit the vehicle.
Sorry for the long story. Do you guys have any advice because i cannot afford to fail again. This is the first time in my life i have gone any time without employment and money is running low. I was already having trouble paying rent, food, etc.. after the first fail. I feel like they are starting to nitpick about things, or was she right to fail me the second time? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am sorry to hear that. You'll get it done.
Chaps Thanks this. -
I was that confident before hand. Now I'm on my third go and i believe you have to take a 6 month reset after the third fail.

sounds like an idiot tester. let me guess, she doesnt even have a CDL, but is going to determine if you qualify for one ?

Was you making the left turn on a yellow lite and it turned red half way thru? The second turn what sign was on your right? Was the car parked that the instructor thought you was going to hit?Was this a 4 way stop? Can you give us more details on both turns as to what exactly happened?

Is there another CDL station near you? If so try going there

Yes, the testers do not have their CDL's which i always thought was strange.
To patty - I can go into detail. The first turn i feel was my fault, I am not saying it was the tester. It was at a 4 way, double left left lanes on my side and double left on the incoming side. I was behind 2 cars and the light was a solid green as i made my way although it was obviously to turn soon, left lights in that area are pretty short, although i still had time. Someone took a right out of a parking lot on the right side of the oncoming lanes and tried to hurry through the turn. I had to stop intersection to let them go so i could make the turn wide enough so my trailer didn't wander into the other lane. By the time i got through the end of my trailer in the intersection and light was red. It wasn't there for a significant amount of time however it was my mistake and i can understand why i failed. I should have noticed the car in the parking lot and stopped at the light while it was green.
The second turn was 2 way street that had a stop sign, turning into a 2 way street that does not stop. The sign on the right was the stop sign. I stopped before it so it was blocking the view on my right hand side to some extent. I inched forward to see the entire road. A car was coming from the left, which i saw. She said because i was moving forward that i was commiting to make the turn and was going to hit the car. This time i cannot really see why i failed and would like insight on. Are you not allowed to pull up slightly to get a better view of the road without failing?Giggles the Original and pattyj Thank this. -
we ALL have situations where we stop and then pull up for a better view !!!!!! thats CRAP....it happens all the time...
