Okay so as a new trucker's wife who doesn't quite understand exactly how everything works I am a little frustrated.
Long story short my husbands Qualcomm hasn't been working right since pretty much the time they have him his truck. He has filled out the necessary paperwork to get it fixed and he just had 4 days off. They fixed some other things on his truck but not that. He went an ran a few loads and is now back at the terminal and SAT there all day and nothing has changed. If you're not rolling, you aren't making money and so that ticks me off! He has been having to keep paper logs which isn't the end of the world. But is this something I should just get used to? What the heck?!
thanks!
Issues...?!

So at least he has paper logs.
Breaking down is part of the bussiness. It happens..TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -
Yep... So long as he keeps paper logs he should be fine. Although his load info will come across the QC.. Just have him make sure he lets his DM know his QC is still not working 100%.
TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -
My issue was mainly with the fact that they had him sit at the terminal all day and didn't fix it? He could have been on the road! Lol
-
Yes, he can still get his load info so that's good. I just feel like he was off for 4 days and parked his truck at the terminal so they could fix all the things wrong and it's still broken.

yeah a messed up quallcom is a blessing to most drivers it means they can actually talk to a dispatcher on the phone or if ur husband is ambitious and knows how to be creative he can make some serious miles now that the gps tracking and the elogs are out the window
-
It happens. That elogs stuff works, then it doesn't. If it quits working for some reason, your company can either fax or email you the 7 previous days that you are required by law to carry and you keep yourself current with paper logs until the Qualcomm is repaired. Unfortunately, it is a common occurrence.
Back in 2008, I ran a load from Wisconsin down to Oklahoma next day. Dispatch calls me angry because according to the Qualcomm, I went from Wisconsin to SLC Utah to Okie City in a day and she wanted to know why did I go so far out of route. I myself was wondering how in the world could I make it from Wisconsin to SLC to Okie City next day in a 65 mph company truck.NavigatorWife and TRKRSHONEY Thank this. -
one thing u and ur husband have to realize is trucks are expensive and when u got hundreds if not thousands out there on the road it is absolutely ridiculous to to think a company is gonna fix every minor imperfection every time it comes in to a terminal there will be short cuts as long as it is DOT legal who cares if the quallcomm works
NewNashGuy and TRKRSHONEY Thank this. -
just wait till he has a major breakdown and has to sit for a week or two in a hotel room because the parts are on national backorder with no release date. now thats gonna be frustrating.
TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -
If I had a QC on my truck and thank God I own it and one won't be on it, I'd be trying to break it...
Logan76 and passingthru69 Thank this.
