Hi guys
I'm looking at a 2000 t800 ISX with 390,000 miles on it. It's at a local businesses lot and there asking $20,000 for it. I think it pulled a coal bucket mostly. I think it's a pretty good price for the miles of the truck but I've heard some bad things about the ISX in the past so I was hoping you guys could tell be if the 2000 ISX years where better then the later EGR ISX Cummins? Thanks guys!
isx Cummins?

I think it's a good buy if everything has been maintained well and miles are not 1 mil 390
trapper33 Thanks this. -
Pretty much any pre-egr engine will be more reliable than any egr engine. IF that 390k is correct, it would probably be a good price. I'm guessing those coal buckets have a pretty rough life. I would do some digging and try to verify the miles first thing. A good test drive buy you and possibly a trusted mechanic would go a long ways. You're going to need to be able to tell the difference between 390k and 1,390k miles.

Plug into the ecm to get the real miles, unless ecm has been replaced. I for one find it hard to believe a 15 year old truck has less than 400k on the clock

Could be as simple as asking too. A lot of people will tell you a truck has xxx miles when the truth is that it has that many miles since an overhaul....can be a fairly LARGE difference...lol.

Avg. 26,000 miles pulling a coal bucket. Must have been some good paying coal.

Okay it's a ISM 400B Cummins instead of a ISX? I went to talk to the guy to day but he wasn't there but I popped the hood and found out it was the ISM. How are those?
