I took extra board this bid to have a Tuesday out. Not one extra day off this year. And I will hit maxed out PTO about Sep/Oct. Even our flex folks are running full 5 day weeks.
Also, you are probably noticing some happy outside contractors as they are working steady. Depending on what warehouse you are out of, your fleet has been reduced by 1 to 30 trucks(new dispatch system supposed to be so efficient that fewer trucks are needed) and full schedules are needed to cover everything...but, on time delivery is down nationwide(if that still matters to head haunchos) and if things slow down(or pick up) something will have to give and schedules will be changed...all of which means a slowdown for drivers. The purpose of the new "just eligible for time PTO system" was to deny paid time off to drivers( no other reason or they would have left it be) so I would not expect for this trend to continue. We will need more new(lower paid)drivers or more contractors...with experiments in all contractor terminals coming....well.
Some Walmart drivers don't believe anythings Gonna happen to them no matter what you tell them. They won't believe it till their sitting at home and The cheap help is doing the runs they used to do. It's inevitable, just the way it is.
I still don't understand what I'm supposed to do with these post like these? If they do away with the private fleet or reduce my schedule I will go get another job at that time, last i looked there seems to be a number of available driving jobs out there. So what's the point of the repeated post saying basically just wait, you'll see...... yeah well whatever, it is out of my control and I'm not leaving until they make it not worth my time to stay. No one i ask ever says i make 46-50cpm working here they include all the accessory pay involved in this job, but the minute new driver pay is brought up it's always. .38 cpm never acknowledging that is completely disingenuous to tell someone what they could make here.
Some people are just so miserable they have to drag others down with them. Or their driving record/skills are so atrocious, nobody other than bottom feeder companies will touch them.
This is the answer i think its more about Join me in being miserable and quitting so I'm not the only one to make a mistake. If you quit i wish you Good luck i was just an O/O for 20 years this job is so gravy, get bills drive truck pick up back haul rinse repeat cash check.
if wm does do away with the fleet. then im applying for the fleet training manager at swift HQ. I should get paid around $200-$300k for turning there accident and incident numbers around.
My trainer used to be a safety manager at swift, he said they gave out awards if they went a few days without any accidents.
