Let it be your last and worst mistake.

What I usually do. Experience brought it. I make checklist and stick it inside a cabin, so every time I get in the cabin to drive there is no way my eye to miss that sticker and sticker says:

    Did you forget:
    1. Securing Pins
    2. Securing Ramps
    3. Strap tie downs
    4. Electric Cable
    5. Check height
    6. Any chain might be loose?
    7. Where is ladder
    8. Where is iron bar
    9. Count keys
    10. Did you pull up all windows?
    11. Did you put jumper back?

You can add more based on the truck and load specification It helped me a lot, cause once I stare this sticker I often say: "Oh Shi** I forgot this, or Oh man, I do not remember if I adjust loose chain, let me check.

    Thanks
Thats a good idea. We use checklists in aviation. There are checklists for every stage from preflight to shutting down.
That was a bad day for sure.
