I guess it all depends on where you live. In the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, most "security guards" make barely over minimum wage. So, for purposes of analogy, let's just say about $7.50 per hour. They NEVER get over time, so that is $300 per week (MAX) at 52 weeks in a year (MAX) is......drum roll.....$15,600 per year BEFORE TAXES.
I made more than DOUBLE THAT in my first year of trucking right out of school. So yeah, go ahead and do the "how many hours did you work and then break it down to slave wage per hour" trick if you want, but the bottom line really is the bottom line...
You can and should make enough to pay the bills if you do your homework and research and tow the line. It is all on what you expect and what you are willing to do to earn a living.
My two cents.
It costs more money to hire a security guard.
