You should have stopped before the tracks then. In the town I live in at present, there are several intersections that fit this exact description. I always prepare to stop before the tracks in the event the light goes yellow.

Sorry, but this one falls squarely on you.

I am quickly getting the feeling that no matter how many times you're told that you should have planned to stop safely, you'll continue to make the same excuse you've made in several of your posts.
You made a mistake. Learn from it. Or should I say, choose to learn from it.

Or continue to deny. That choice is yours as well.

It's possible, but I will say that no trainer can cover every possible scenario that a rookie driver may encounter during his days as a professional driver. I'm just hoping the OP will swallow his pride, shake it off, and learn from it. Heck, 13 years of doing this and I still find a new situation (at least to me) every once in a while. Most of us do.

Same rule in FL. Truck must be in gear, and no shifting over RR tracks. I think most states have this same rule. I'll agree with the other posters, should have slowed down before the tracks. Learn from this, and take the test again. Third party schools usually have less stringent standards then a DMV, but they all take RR crossings serious.
Some states, including FL, only test at third party locations, DMV won't test. If it's costing you money to travel to and test at a third party, you could always test at the DMV if it's closer and your state DMV does testing.
